Intrinsic and extrinsic regulation of epidermal stem cell fate

Fiona Watt is the Director of the Centre for Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine, King’s College London.

She will be talking about her career path as well as her research interests. Professor Watt has made major discoveries on the mechanisms that control stem cell renewal, differentiation and tissue aggregation, and their deregulation in disease.

She was elected Fellow of the Royal Society in 2003 and became the first female president of the International Society of Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) in 2008.  Professor Watt has held the position of Deputy Director at the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Research Institute and the Wellcome Trust Centre for Stem Cell Research.

She recently moved to KCL and currently leads the Wellcome Trust Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell Initiative (HipSci) and UK Regenerative Medicine.
