I will describe some of our recent work on the hydrodynamics of swimming microorganisms and of active droplets. In particular, I will explain how interactions can be studied using an extension of the well-known reciprocal theorem for swimmers, giving illustrations for both interactions with surfaces and between swimmers, and leading to exact results for two squirmers in some special cases
