Alumni who were members of the Boat Club during their time at Imperial are invited to the annual reception to watch the Head of the River Race from the Imperial College Boathouse on Sunday 29 March. During the summer the Boathouse underwent a refurbishment and so you will not only be able to see the work that has been carried out but also watch the climax of the race from the wonderful new balcony.
The 2013-14 season for the Boat Club has been exciting as ever. Our Men’s novice crew not only qualified for Henley Royal but won their first round race, an extremely unusual feat for a beginner’s crew. This combined with the win for two IC girls in the Remenham Challenge Cup and a place in the final of the Thames Challenge Cup for our Alumni crew rounded off a typical roller coaster week.
On the International Stage, we had three athletes race at the Senior World Championships, Sam Scrimgeour winning Bronze in the Lightweight 2- and Zoe Lee and Donna Etiebet in the Women’s 8+. At the U23 World Championships, IC athletes Wilf Kimberley, Tim Richards and Georgia Francis all won silver medals in the Lwt2-, Lwt4- and Women’s 8+ respectively. At the World Student Games, Michelle Vezie won gold.
The reception will be informal with some light refreshments served throughout in the Bill Mason Club Room at the Boathouse, from where we can watch the racing. Crews will be boating from 11:00 and all are welcome to watch and support them as they push off. The agenda for the day is as follows;
11.15 Arrival and welcome as crews will be boating
12.00 Race starts
If you would like to attend this year’s reception, please RSVP by Monday 17 March.
