Using the holographic principle we have designed and demonstrated new metasurfaces and metadevices that generate/ detect vortex beams; create a new class of diffractionless surface plasmon beams and control the direction of launched surface plasmons, including unidirectional switching between opposite directions, by simply  change of the polarization of incident light without sacrificing coupling efficiency . The last part of the talk deals with Fabry-Perot interference in lossy thin films of nanometer thickness: striking perfect absorption phenomena  in phase change materials acting as tunable Metamaterials near the metal insulator transition and  striking changes in the color of noble metals using nanometer thick overlayers  will be presented
