On Monday 8th October 2012, Dr Mark Richards from Imperial College London, presented to students at Villiers High School, Southall.

Dr Richards is a Senior Teaching Fellow and the Director of Outreach in the Physics Department at Imperial College London. He was invited to present at Villiers High School’s Science careers fair for year 10 and 11 students.

The careers fair was divided into several workshops so that small groups of students could attend each short workshop consecutively. Dr Richard’s talk centred around the importance of physics as a discipline and explored the various careers that a physics degree could lead to.

Following the event, Dr Richards said; “Many students were genuinely surprised by the shear breadth of the subject and also the numerous possible carer options open to physicists once they graduate.  At the end of the session, several said that they were now considering pursuing physics at A-level”
