The Department of Physics cordially invites Experimentalists, Post Docs and Post Graduates to attend an Open Day in the Mechanical Instrumentation Workshop.
The open day will consist of a guided tour of the facility, with practical demonstrations on the modern equipment housed there. Technicians will be on hand to discuss how our design and production capabilitites can be used to assist in research projects and will be happy to answer questions you may have about the capacity and scope of the equipment.
Along side all the traditional mechanical workshop tools, the facility now houses a range of computer aided design (CAD) equipment and computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools, including 3D CAD Rapid Prototyping, 4-Axis CNC Machining Centre, CNC Mill-Turn, CNC Wire Cut EDM, CNC Turning & Milling, NC ‘Spark’ Machining, TIG & MIG Welding & Plasma Cutting.
