Biography

Jeremy Grantham is a co-founder of GMO, an investment management firm in Boston, where he is the firm’s chief investment strategist, a member of the board and an active member of its asset allocation division. In 1998 Jeremy and his wife Hannelore established the Grantham Foundation for the Protection of the Environment. The Grantham Foundation seeks to protect and improve the health of the global environment. Its grants focus on climate change and biodiversity conservation, with an emphasis on international initiatives. Within these topic areas, the Grantham Foundation emphasizes (1) improved communication of the science of global climate change and biodiversity loss and (2) collaboration amongst leading non-governmental organizations and academic institutions. Key grant programs include the Grantham Institute for Climate Change at Imperial College London, Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment at the London School of Economics, and the Grantham Prize for Excellence in Environmental Journalism. Jeremy earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Sheffield (U.K.) and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
