Priya Kurien is Managing Director of boutique management consultancy Dolphin Advisory, and also leads the Digital Innovation and Life Sciences & Healthcare sectors for the UK India Business Council. Prior to co-founding Dolphin, she held a variety of senior management roles at Infosys, since joining in 1997 when the firm was around 2,000 people strong. She is co-author of “Blind Men and the Elephant”, the critically acclaimed book on past, present and future of the global IT services industry. An accomplished leader, entrepreneur, consultant and author with 17 years of global technology industry experience, primarily in India and UK, Priya has worked directly with and for executives of blue-chip corporates, SME firms, as well as Ministers and senior civil servants. As Founding Director of Dolphin Advisory, Priya has established and developed the firm since its inception in 2007. She works with client executives to set up, improve and transform core functions including sales, marketing, IT and strategic planning. Clients include top-5 Indian corporates in IT services, banking, and healthcare sectors, and coaching numerous hi-tech startups and SMEs. At Infosys, Priya was selected as one of 100 “Next Generation Leaders” given special leadership development, including personal coaching from Narayan Murthy. She won the prestigious “Chairman’s Award” for outstanding performance, and was regularly listed in the Annual Report as a high achiever. In her Solutions and Alliances role, Priya designed, piloted and institutionalised new ways of selling and delivering solutions with alliance partners. She led the development of Microsoft-Infosys collaborative solutions, under the executive sponsorship of Kris Gopalakrishnan and Steve Ballmer. At SETLabs, Infosys R&D division, she was responsible for commercialising IP from Infosys research into client offerings. At the start of her Infosys career, Priya was part of the Infosys Internet Consulting Practice, reporting directly to founder director S.D. Shibulal. Her projects were the first in the world to combine leading-edge internet technologies with global delivery. Synopsis Priya is talking on the “Innovation Imperative for UK-India business collaboration”. In this talk, she explores some of the stereotypes that exist on where innovation can be found and the opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurship in India, particularly in the technology sector.
