The first seminar in the Bioinformatics Seminar Series features Professor Amiram Goldblum from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem speaking on Computer-aided protein and drug design.

Abstract: A new search and optimization method produces ensembles of best solutions to protein structures, docking of ligands to proteins, ligand discovery and protein design, among others. Recent success in discovering novel inhibitors of acetylcholinesterase and in designing inhibitors of Bcr-Abl oligomerization will be discussed, as well as the production of molecular bioactivity indexes for discovering new ligands for single and multiple targets.
