Combating climate change – challenges and initiatives in Europe and China
Climate change requires radical changes and global responses on a scale never witnessed before. No individual company, university or country can address on its own the huge challenges we face.
This master class and panel discussion will provide a platform to explore how new technologies, businesses and partnerships are emerging in the drive to combat climate, particularly from the perspectives of Europe and China. It is an opportunity for alumni and guests to informally network and learn about some of the latest developments in an area that today is affecting everyone’s lives.
Ebrahim Mohamed, Executive MBA Programme Director, and Imperial College Business School project leader on KIC, will lead this session and present on the recent creation of the Climate Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC), which signals Europe’s commitment to tackling climate change and to making a step-change in its ability to innovate and reduce Europe’s carbon emissions.
Panellists will explore the challenges and responses in China to climate change, and the masterclass will look at what can be learnt from the wide variety of responses to this global challenge. Audience participation will be encouraged.
The panel includes Zhuohui Luo (MBA 2001) Deputy Division Director, China National Petroleum Corporation and member of the Imperial College Alumni Association in China, and representatives from energy and climate change initiatives in China.
