Delivering excellence in teaching and research is one of the key aims of this year’s Chelsea and Westminster Hospital Open Day which takes place from 11am to 3pm on Saturday 9 May at the hospital on Fulham Road.
Approximately a third of Imperial College medical students are taught and gain experience at Chelsea and Westminster.
Exhibitors due to take part in the Open Day include the hospital’s Centre for Clinical Practice, which provides hands-on training for medical students in a Simulation Suite, and the Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care (CLAHRC) for Northwest London.
The CLAHRC, which is hosted by Chelsea and Westminster with Imperial as its academic partner, is a £20 million research project that aims to drive forward the rapid introduction of new, effective treatments for a wide range of medical conditions.
The Chelsea and Westminster Hospital Open Day is a popular annual event which attracted almost 1,700 visitors to the hospital last year.
This year’s Open Day will include tours of the hospital’s operating theatres, stalls with information about wards and departments, live music, a children’s puppet show, exercise classes run by Virgin Active, healthy eating advice, and much more.
Chelsea and Westminster Hospital Open Day is supported by the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust Members’ Council which includes elected representatives of patients, members of the public and hospital staff.
