Dr Jim Loftus, Discovery Recruitment Manager, Pfizer Inc, presents a lecture on Career Opportunities and Life at Pfizer.

Abstract Pfizer Inc. is a research-based, global pharmaceutical company that was founded in the US by two German immigrants, Charles Pfizer and Charles Erhart, in 1849. Today, Pfizer is continuously discovering, developing, manufacturing and marketing leading prescription-only medicines for humans and animals as well as a wide portfolio of consumer healthcare products. Currently, Pfizer employs 122,000 people in 60 countries and has sales in more than 150 countries. Pfizer has major UK R&D sites in Sandwich. It also has at least 28 additional clinical research sites worldwide. In 2004, overall investment in R&D is estimated at $7.9 billion – the largest investment of any pharmaceutical company and of any private sector research institution in the world. This lecture will be a general introduction to Pfizer, the world’s largest research based pharmaceutical company and career opportunities. The lecture will be followed by a Q&A session with Dr. Loftus. Refreshments will be provided plus a chance to find out about membership to the UK Biochemical Society
