The Design Make and Test project is a major piece of engineering design carried out by groups of third year students in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The students run the project as a small engineering consultancy. This year, the global pandemic meant that all of our students were required to work remotely without access to the College labs or workshops. The groups were given a brief and developed ideas and concepts, then ordered parts from professional external workshops based on the engineering drawings they created. The final prototype products that have resulted are impressive; the fact that they were all designed, manufactured and built whilst working remotely is astonishing.
The final task during the year is to present their projects at the DMT exhibition, which this year will be taking place between 12.00 noon and 2.00pm on Thursday 10th June 2021 online using Teams. All are welcome to come and see what our students are capable of, and to talk to them about the work they have been doing. This is an exciting event and it is a great opportunity to experience how enthusiastic our students are about their work.
The event will be accessed through an online Foyer with links to individual teams meetings for each group. The online Foyer will go live when the event starts.
