Making research more sustainable u2013 funding, best practice

As part of Imperial’s Sustainability Fortnight (24 February–7 March), join us for an online session exploring how we can embed sustainability into research within the Faculty of Medicine.

With Imperial committed to reaching net-zero by 2040, sustainable lab practices are more important than ever—not only for reducing our environmental impact but also for securing future funding. Many major funders, including the Wellcome Trust, CRUK, and UKRI, will soon require sustainability accreditations like The Laboratory Efficiency Assessment Framework (LEAF).

In this session, we’ll:

  • Provide practical guidance on making research more sustainable

  • Discuss the link between funding and sustainability initiatives

  • Highlight best practices and success stories from our FoM community

Speakers include:

  • Professor Frank Kelly, Battcock Chair in Community Health and Policy in the School of Public Health and FoM Representative on Imperial’s Sustainability Strategy Committee

  • Dr ChrystallaOrphanides, Head of Research Development in the Faculty of Medicine
  • Dr Sharron Stubbs, Head of Infrastructure Operations in the Faculty of Medicine
  • Neil Galloway-Phillipps, Senior Laboratory and Safety Manager in the Department of Immunology and Inflammation

Don’t miss this opportunity to learn, collaborate, and drive meaningful change in how we conduct research.
