I-Explore modules develop a wide range of competencies – of value for students’ academic studies, their future careers, and their lives more broadly.  This session will present the interim progress of a StudentShapers project on this theme. The project draws on student and staff perspectives to examine which competences are developed amongst students through I-explore, and investigates how this is achieved. It contexualises this with reflections from students on their core degree experiences.  Ultimately, the project aims to create an “I-Explore Competences Menu” to support student decision-making when choosing I-Explore options.

The project has been designed through staff-student partnerships. Firstly, through the I-Explore Student Partners programme, and now through a dedicated StudentShapers project for this academic year.  This session will present the framework for this project and its preliminary findings. In the weeks after this presentation, our team will conduct focus groups with students and staff to deepen our insights. Opportunities to be involved in these will be explained.
