GUEST SPEAKER:
Peter Falkingham, Professor of Palaeobiology, School of Biological and Environmental Sciences, Liverpool John Moores University
TALK TITLE:
Biomechanics from dinosaur footprints
DETAILS:
Peter Falkingham is Professor of Palaeobiology at Liverpool John Moores University. His background includes Biology, Geology, and Computer Science.
Professor Falkingham uses modern technologies, including high-performance computer simulation, machine learning, and X-ray reconstruction of moving morphology, to extract information about locomotion from the fossil record.
He is currently PI of a UKRI Frontier Research Grant (ERC Consolidator Grant) exploring the locomotor evolution of birds from dinosaurs via their footprints.
This talk will cover recent developments and advances by Falkingham and his team.
