IDE Seminar Dr Paola Angelini

How to tackle challenges related to the emerging tiger mosquitoes and related arboviruses

The presentation will focus on Emilia-Romagna (Italy) experience on initiatives taken to tackle challenges related to Aedes albopictus and transmitted viruses (dengue/chikungunya/zika). The Emilia-Romagna regional plan for arbovirosis will be presented. It is a plan based on a One-Health approach that integrates human and entomological surveillance to guide risk reduction actions, from organisation and coordination to local implementation. In the last two years Emilia-Romagna experienced some outbreaks of Chikungunya and Dengue; during the event, the methods of intervention for the control of autochtonous transmission will be discussed and the limits and successes of the actions undertaken will be highlighted.
