A perspective projection of a dodecahedral tessellation in H3. Four dodecahedra meet at each edge, and eight meet at each vertex, like the cubes of a cubic tessellation in E3.

Title: Reduced Gromov-Witten Invariants

Speaker: Robert Rogers (Sheffield)

Abstract: One of the defects of usual Gromov-Witten theory is the presence of degenerate maps that factor through curves of lower genus. Reduced Gromov-Witten invariants aim to take these contributions into account to construct a more enumerative theory but have only been constructed in some cases. In this talk we will explore some historical constructions of reduced invariants and describe some current work in progress joint with Cristina Manolache.

Some snacks will be provided before and after the talk.
