Abstract: Gauge Theory is an area of mathematics which has important connections with fields ranging from mathematical physics to algebraic geometry. In this talk we will attempt to give some motivation for it, as well as a broad overview of the main mathematical concepts behind Gauge Theory, like principal bundles, connections and gauge transformations. We will finish by taking a look at some examples of gauge-theoretic problems.
