This year the Imperial Women’s Network (IWN) will focus on the theme ‘Personal Growth’ with the aim of equipping attendees with new capabilities and insights to enhance their professional journey. The fast-changing world of work and the fluctuating demands it places on us means our grasp of health and well-being is crucial for a successful and sustainable career.

This seminar, run by Dr Victoria Harmer a nurse consultant at Imperial College Health Care Trust, explores how you can stay healthy and happy despite your workplace’s demanding days and deadlines. She will explore:
•What to look out for – major health challenges in the modern workplace
•How to take care of yourself – tips & tricks to stay fit both mentally and physically, and stress management in the workplace
•How to assist colleagues – you’ll hear how to look out for warning signs and get suggestions for how to act

Tickets cost £7 for students and £12 for alumni and guests. This includes refreshments and a networking drinks reception after the event. Places are limited so please register in advance.

Speaker Biography

Dr Victoria Harmer has a degree in nursing from King’s College London, an MBA from Westminster Business School, a Doctorate from King’s College London and she holds an Associateship of King’s College London. She is a Macmillan Consultant nurse, breast care at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. She is proactive in raising awareness and health promotion through teaching and media interviews. She is a firm believer of sending the message of overall wellness across, as this has an impact on a person’s health and well-being.

Victoria has published over 70 articles for nursing and medical journals, as well as editing the book ‘Breast Cancer Nursing Care and Management’. In addition, she has written several chapters in books and acted as medical adviser for radio, television and film.

In 2013 she was awarded the Nursing Times Cancer Nursing award which represents excellence in nursing and patient care.

The Imperial Women’s Network welcomes alumni from Imperial College and Imperial College Business School and friends interested in advancing women’s leadership in business.
