High-energy Astrophysics: TeV to EeV
The origin and acceleration of cosmic ray particles, some reaching energies exceeding 10 20 ev, is one of the outstanding mysteries in astrophysics. I will explain how plasma physics on parsec scales is central to the acceleration process and relate this to phenomena occurring on micron scales in laser-produced plasmas.
