Notice for international travellers: new travel rules
If you are travelling internationally, please ensure that you are aware of the latest Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) requirements from the UK government. Notably an ETA is now required of almost all visitors to the UK (including from the EU and US) who previously may not have needed a visa.
Getting to the venue
The venue is about 10 minutes' walk from South Kensington underground station. Below is guidance on how to reach South Kensington from the major ports of entry for London; please note that you can use a credit card on the card readers at all points on these journeys, and do not need to buy separate tickets:
From London Heathrow: Take the Piccadilly Line direct from Heathrow to South Kensington (about 50 minutes)
From London Gatwick: Trains run regularly from Gatwick to several different locations in London, notably Victoria and Blackfriars. From these locations you can then take the District or Circle Lines (Westbound) to South Kensington (between 50 and 75 minutes total).
From London St. Pancras: The international station at St. Pancras is connected to King's Cross. Take the Piccadilly Line (any branch) direct from Kings Cross to South Kensington (about 30 minutes).
Accommodation
The immediate area around Imperial College can be quite expensive, but transit links around London are very good. We would therefore strongly recommend seeking accommodation with the expectation of reaching the venue by Underground from wherever you are staying. There are plenty of economically-priced options within 15-30 minutes of Imperial (by public transit).
