Waleed El-Geresy has been a PhD student in the Intelligent Systems and Networks Group at Imperial College London since October 2019. He is also a graduate of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department at Imperial College London where he obtained an integrated Master's degree. 

He is interested in how theory from communications, such as information theory, can be applied to improve deep learning. He is also interested in the ways in which we can draw inspiration from neuroscience in order to influence the development of novel deep learning architectures and algorithms.

His past research work has involved the application of deep joint source-channel coding to the storage of information on analogue devices.
