Luca is a PhD student in the Personal Robotics Lab since November 2025. His research focuses on the construction of multiscale user models to test new interaction paradigms in assistive robotics and interactive entertainment.
Before joining the lab, he spent 2 years as a software test engineer at Airbus Defence & Space in Germany. There he worked on aircraft avionics software testing and tech stack development. Prior to that he interned for several months at the Human Robot Interaction Lab of the European Space Agency (ESA) in the Netherlands, focusing on interface design for rover teleoperation and end-to-end sensor implementations. He obtained his MEng degree in Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics from Newcastle University.
