Dr Youngkyoon Jang
Dr Youngkyoon Jang was a research associate in the Personal Robotics Lab. (PRL), Imperial College London (ICL), from May 2021 to June 2022. Prior to joining ICL, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Bristol, Queen Mary University of London and KAIST. He was also a visiting researcher at the University of Cambridge and ICL. He received his Ph.D. degree from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) under the supervision of Prof. Woontack Woo in August 2015.
He was working on the EN-TRUST project funded by EPSRC, in which he developed human behaviour understanding methods for Trustworthy Human-Robot Interaction. His contributions include the Message Passing Framework.
His research explores novel natural user interface technologies that aim to make interactions between humans and computers more intuitive in a wearable environment. These efforts often lie in understanding human behaviours, analysing visual attributes, and investigating decision making fairness based on visual computing and mobile/wearable computing. Besides his research background in computer science, his work often incorporates aspects of machine learning (particularly Deep Learning, Random Forest), computer vision, video processing (including IR, colour, and depth images), AR/VR, and biometrics.
