The Imperial Network of Excellence in Wound Healing and Regeneration is a multidisciplinary research initiative uniting engineers, scientists and clinicians (doctors, nurses and allied healthcare practitioners) around the fundamental grand challenge of delivering innovative and ground-breaking treatments for wound healing and scar augmentation that will deliver significant clinical impact and benefit to patients. The Network strives to use and develop core engineering technologies in an unrivalled transdisciplinary research environment where clinical advances in wound healing and regeneration are enabled in a way that is not currently possible with single discipline approaches.
The Network is led by Drs Ben Almquist and Claire Higgins. The network unites over 50 members traversing thematic areas with a focus on wound healing including surgical innovation, diagnostic technologies, regenerative medicine, microbiome, systems biology and biomaterials.

The Network also supports the London Skin Club which is a jointly founded initiative with Imperial College, Queen Mary, and Kings College London. The Club meets on a biannual basis and is an informal environment where academics and clinicians with an interest in skin and hair can meet and discuss their latest findings. Hosted in London, the Skin Club is open to researchers from all around the UK.
