The Public Affairs team works to ensure Imperial’s research, expertise and partnerships contribute to London’s civic life, economy and public services. We work closely with the London boroughs, the Greater London Authority, and stakeholders across the capital to drive inclusive local growth and opportunity and to make sure we benefit our communities by creating lasting impact in areas from health innovations and climate resilience to skills and enterprise.

Mohn Centre for Children’s Health and Wellbeing

The Mohn Centre, part of Imperial’s School of Public Health, is committed to improving the health and wellbeing of children and young people in West London.

The Mohn Centre works with local schools, community partners, local authorities, and health and care organisations to tackle health inequalities and create healthier urban living. By addressing environmental, social, behavioural, and genetic factors, the Centre empowers communities, influences policy, and trains future leaders to deliver lasting impact for children in West London and beyond.

WellHome – West London Healthy Home and Environment Study

The WellHome study, led by Imperial’s Environmental Research Group, is the first large-scale community-based project to investigate indoor air pollution. Co-designed with local families, it focuses on children with asthma across 100 homes in White City, who spend much of their time indoors where air quality can significantly impact health.

The study provides vital insights into indoor pollutants such as chemicals and microplastics, shaping health guidance, policymaking, and behavioural change to improve health outcomes.

ZeDTech network

Led by Professor David Sharp and Professor Tim Constandinou at Imperial and the UK Dementia Research Institute’s Care Research and Technology Centre, this network brings together local authorities, industry, charities, and community partners to develop innovative, low-burden technologies that help people with dementia live more independently.

These solutions are designed with families and carers in mind and are built to fit seamlessly into existing health and social care systems. The aim is to make these technologies accessible to everyone, creating real impact in everyday life.
