How is my eligibility for the fund determined?
- The fund is available to staff who do not have access to an alternative source of funding (e.g. departmental funds) in full-time or part-time roles. Please make sure you consult your department before applying.
- The activity you are applying for is a conference, workshop or training session which you haven’t already attended in the last 12 months. There is one stipulation for presenting at conferences. The fund is restricted to these activities so please make sure the activity you are requesting funds for is in line with this.
- In line with the new processes outlined, applications must be made a minimum of 3 months prior to activity. Please note we don’t accept retrospective applications.
- Funding is only granted to those whose contract end dates surpass the end date of the professional development activity by at least 3 months. Funding will not normally be available to staff whose posts are externally funded.
- The applicant has not requested more than £3000 this financial year, this is inclusive of a maximum of £3000 for international activity and £1500 for domestic activity.
- The minimum requestable sum is £100, applicants should direct claims below this to their department.
- The fund is not being used for development activity where similar provision is provided by the university. We highly recommend looking through the provisions of the Educational Development Unit, the Learning Development Centre and the 10 development days before applying.
- The applicant is requesting funds for one activity per application.
