Primarily, the systems were scored, weighted and evaluated against the user requirements provided by the stakeholders across Imperial, including its strategic needs, and the results from the Proof of Concept testing.
Your department’s DEPP representative will inform you of any changes that may affect you. The Digital Education Products Project webpage will also be kept up to date with project updates and you may also receive information in various Imperial newsletters.
A period of discovery and requirements gathering has been completed.
Please speak with your Faculty / area’s LMS Learning Technologist or alternatively your DEPP representative.
Content migration is subject to the individual strategy of the selected LMS supplier and export capabilities of our existing systems.
The project team and selected supplier will assist in the data transfer aspects of migration. Independently, individual faculty areas will be responsible for preparing content for migration and quality assuring content post migration.
The project is scheduled to complete in 2026.
Full implementation of the new learning management system is due to complete in autumn 2026.
Implementation activities will be coordinated at the faculty level by your DEPP representative, in line with the overall project timeline.
Your level of involvement will depend on your specific role and responsibilities within the project. If your input is required, you will be informed in advance through local communication channels to ensure you have sufficient time to prepare and engage.
There is a commitment to maintaining existing integrations with centrally funded systems e.g. systems that are already integrated with Blackboard Learn.
However, should a tool or service be a duplication of functionality with the new LMS, either centrally or faculty funded, there would have to be a reasoned justification for integration that, if not clear, would have to go the appropriate Teaching & Learning Board Sub-Group for consideration.
Yes, a pilot phase is planned to launch in the first quarter of 2026. It will involve the DEPP Project Team, DEPP representatives, and programme and course leads.
These groups will work closely with the supplier to identify suitable courses for participation in the pilot. The aim is to ensure a smooth experience with minimal disruption to teaching and learning during this initial rollout.
Yes, training and guidance documentation will be made available along with support from each area/Faculty’s Learning Management System Learning Technologists.
