The Challenge
As the global population increases, and we place greater demands on land and the natural world, it is timely to consider what nature needs and how to safeguard and conserve those aspects effectively, whilst also providing for people, as part of the global ecosystem.
Mission Development
During our mission development we will seek, design, test and demonstrate realisable routes to a clean and healthy future.
The work emerging during development will demonstrate how we can relieve the pressure on our natural world, whilst optimising the production of energy, food, materials and vital services for and from nature.
We are building a body of work to provide irrefutable evidence that our land and oceans can sustain both people and nature.
We foresee there to be several cross-faculty programmes emerging out of each mission. The first area of focus for the Nurturing mission is Sustainable Agriculture.

Agritech-Imaginarium
Sustainable Agriculture: Global food systems are under mounting pressure.
The world’s population is projected to peak at approximately 10.3 billion within the next 60 years, demanding radical shifts in how we produce, distribute, and consume food. Our ambition is to develop a research space where scientific ideas, technologies and economic models can be explored against real-world constraints.
