How we run our campuses matters. We are committed to becoming sustainable, net-zero campuses by 2040, and we are committed to minimizing all kinds of pollution from our campuses.

Sustainability is one of the main priorities in our new Imperial strategy, Science for Humanity, and we have committed to leading by example in our activities and on our campuses. We have an ambition to lead the sector in becoming one of the lowest carbon, zero polluting, low consumption and biodiverse ecosystems within the constraints of our urban environments, by applying our academic strength and our commitment to safeguarding the future.

Imperial’s Property Division is implementing an Environmental Management System (EMS) to provide a structured approach to managing environmental risks, impacts and compliance across its estate. In 2025, EcoCampus Silver certification was reached and Imperial is currently working towards ISO 14001:2015, aiming for certification in April 2026.
