Who is this course for?

This course is open to those who have completed Hindi 1 (Beginners) Parts 1 and 2 at Imperial, or equivalent elsewhere (≈30 hours of study) within the past 9 months, and it builds on this experience. Applicants unsure of their proficiency level should request a telephone-based level check pre-enrolment. Please email the tutor your name, contact number and a convenient day and time to be contacted.


Course overview

This Hindi course is designed to expand your knowledge, understanding and skills in spoken Hindi, and also develop further basic skills in reading and writing the language.

By the end of the course, you should be able to:

  • Talk about your abilities and holiday wishes;
  • Express your wishes, likes and dislikes;
  • Express what you/someone needs;
  • Ask for things you need in a shop and the price of an item;
  • Read and write basic words in Hindi, and write by listening.

All sessions are taught in a practical, enjoyable and engaging way.


Special equipment needed

As this course is taught live online, you need to be able to access the course sessions on a suitably equipped device (stable internet connection, microphone, camera, appropriate screen size to view slides). The sessions are taught on Zoom.
