Who is this course for?
This one-term extension course is designed for those who have completed the two-term Japanese 1 (Beginners) course at Imperial, or those who have completed around 40 hours of Japanese language study elsewhere (or equivalent). You should already be able to read and write Hiragana scripts.
Course overview
Alongside consolidating your existing knowledge and understanding of vocabulary, syntax and grammar, on this course you will be introduced to the formation of 'te-forms' and discover useful phrases using te-forms as well as other basic and useful daily expressions.
Throughout the course we will emphasize communicative skills, using role play, pair work and practical conversation practice.
This course teaches to a set class textbook details of which will be given by the tutor.

• Summer Term: week beginning 27 April 2026 until week ending 17 July 2026 (no class on Bank Holiday Mondays)
