Course overview
The course focuses on communication skills, encouraging expression and debate on a wide range of contemporary cultural and social issues, using accurate and nuanced French. Several higher intermediate grammatical structures will be introduced and practised, with sessions curated by the tutor to take account of the interests, needs and ability of the whole class. You will be encouraged to produce occasional written work.
We will use real current newspaper articles and literary extracts to enhance our learning, which will support language development and deepen cultural understanding. These will help us to develop higher level practical communication skills in line with level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for languages (CEFR).
The sessions are designed to challenge and support your development of fluency, accuracy, and confidence in using French in both spoken and written forms.
This course uses a textbook and other material to teach the course. Advice on which course textbook to buy will be given in the first class.
