Course overview

This class is a friendly group for learners interested in practising their Italian through discussion of current affairs and topical events in the arts, sport and culture.

During these lunchtime sessions, we will read and discuss articles, as well as explore novels and song lyrics, with the aim of improving fluency, grammatical accuracy and confidence in Italian. The course will also provide opportunities to expand vocabulary and develop a better understanding of idiomatic expressions across a variety of contexts.

The main focus of the course is to develop speaking and listening skills, while also giving attention to reading and writing.

The course can be taken multiple times, as practice activities and reading comprehension exercises will vary each term.

By the end of the course, our aim is for you to communicate at C1 level as described in the Common European Framework, while strengthening your grammatical knowledge and developing your ability to understand more complex and abstract Italian texts.

This course uses a textbook and additional materials. Advice on which textbook to purchase will be provided during the first class.
