Course overview
This course is a beginner's guide to philosophy in which we join Greg Artus on a fascinating journey to discover the ideas of some of the greatest philosophers in history.
What is philosophy? In this welcoming weekly course, Greg will show you how to think philosophically about real-world problems. Ranging from Plato and Aristotle to Descartes, Kant and Nietzsche, you’ll explore big ideas—knowledge, ethics, freedom, meaning—and how these thinkers connect across time. Each session blends clear explanation with lively discussion, helping you test arguments, spot fallacies, and apply classic insights to life today.
Lively, interactive and fun, the course is aimed at complete beginners, and no prior knowledge required—just curiosity.
This course is taught at the Horsebridge Arts Centre, Whitstable (map).
