"The Great Service programme is a massive contrast to any other implementation that I have experienced at Imperial. Not only the considerations for accessibility itself, but also the way the demos have been presented – thoroughly appreciated. Clear, precise and reassuring."– Bouquette Kabatepe, Digital Accessibility Officer
What we have done so far
The Great Service programme has engaged with a broad range of groups and individuals across Imperial. Since March 2025, our Change Management team and the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion centre have been working to ensure that accessibility requirements and related considerations are met within the new system. This work has involved staff across departments and members of the Able and Neurodiversity Champion Staff Networks.
Workshops began in May 2025, offering accessibility users an opportunity to gain insight into what the software changes may be, understand the differences and benefits of the new system and ask the programme team any questions. The aim of these sessions was to help users prepare ahead of time, helping to level the playing field for the upcoming changes.
Users were invited to participate in demonstrations, with training materials provided, and then interact with our starter configuration system with a first look at accessibility features and digital assistant tools. From this early engagement, the programme has been able to gather invaluable feedback from the Imperial community to contribute to our design phase.
What we will be doing in the future
As we progress through the programme, we will continue our accessibility work with the following activity:
- Liaison on product branding
- Accessibility options on the confirmed design
- Testing
- Training
