Training Frequently Asked Questions

Why is training necessary for a change programme?

Training helps users understand the scope of the change, develop the required skills whilst increasing engagement and adoption of the new end-to-end processes and impacted systems.

Who will be trained?

Everyone impacted by the change including leaders, managers and employees will receive appropriate training aligned to their roles.

What types of training will be offered and when?

An interactive curriculum of blended learning including train-the-trainer, end-user classroom, case studies, user stories, e-learning, and end-to-end scenarios will be delivered in readiness for go live.

Who will deliver the training?

Training will be delivered by a hybrid of experts incorporating external trainers, Subject Matter Experts, Change Agents and internal trainers depending on the expertise required.

What is ‘direct-access’? How do we ensure people can use it correctly?

'Direct access' will give staff the ability to update their personal records, book absences, get their payslips and payroll related data and should reduce workloads.

Effective end user training will be supported by training tools like Oracle Guided Learning and our dedicated training manager who is working on the training needs analysis for end users.

What role do leaders play in supporting training outcomes?

Leaders play a crucial role in ensuring the success of training by nominating resources who can support the delivery of learning where required, adopt new skills and behaviours, attend training and address resistance to support positive training outcomes.

What training needs will be solved by Oracle Guided Learning?

Oracle Guided Learning is a self-guided tool within the application that end users can use to get navigational help and support for simple tasks and processes like “how to book absences” and “how to raise expenses”.

What advice, training or support will be available to help people on the journey to adoption and maximise the potential benefits of Great Service?

This is the key role of our Change Managers who are working with leadership and teams across the University to support the transition and adoption of new ways of working.

Right now, our focus is on building understanding of the programme.  During Application Walkthrough, we have offered colleagues the opportunity to see more of what future processes will be like as we refine and finalise our design.

Our Change Managers have been working during this phase and into the Autumn to understand what it means for the teams they are working with and start to build their local change plans for how their people will be supported.

Formal training will be a core part of our change offer, but we will also be building learning opportunities through engagement, testing and involvement in the Change Network.
