Our work is organised around three main applications, from which we derive fundamental problems that help advancing our understanding of some basic physics and/or enabling new capabilities for next-generation aircraft and renewable energy systems. XRF high loads

Flight simulation and load control on flexible aircraft

Developing multidisciplinary analysis and optimization tools able to capture all the relevant interactions between flight dynamics, aerodynamics, structural dynamics and control.

Aeroelasticity of wing turbines

Assessing aeroelastic effects in long flexible composite blades, and integrating active load control mechanisms that improve performance and increase fatigue life.
Topology optimised wing in coupled FSI

Aerostructural design and optimisation

Developing high-fidelity computational methods to investigate air vehicle aeroelastic behaviour and to optimise their design and closed-loop operation for enhanced aerodynamic performance
