BPES modules, delivered by the Imperial Business School, give you the chance to gain a greater understanding of the financial, strategic and operational context of your core discipline.
We interviewed Edina Hamzic-Maguire (Programme Director, Undergraduate Programmes, Imperial Business School) on the topic of I-Explore BPES modules.

FAQ for BPES
- Are BPES modules within I-Explore first-come first-served?
- Are there BPES module restrictions that I should be aware of?
- Can I take BPES modules outside of I-Explore?
No - we are not operating a first-come first-served system for BPES modules taken through I-Explore.
The BPES team have reserved spaces on BPES modules for I-Explore students.
You will be asked to indicate 6 I-Explore modules that you would be interested in taking (in order of preference). We will be using a Sequential Prediction Algorithm to allocate you a module.
Please note that you cannot select more than four BPES modules within your six I-Explore preference choices. This is to help achieve optimal satisfaction for the greatest number of students, when we run our module allocation algorithm.
If you are completing a 'with management' degree, you will not be able to take a BPES module as your I-Explore module. This is due to the overlap of content with the core content of your degree. If you are planning to switch onto the 'with management' degree, please do not take an I-Explore BPES module (as you will no longer be eligible to enrol onto the 'with management' degree).
Many of the BPES modules have exams. Before you choose a BPES module please ensure you will be available during the BPES examination week. Students completing a work placement as part of their degree or are undertaking an internship in the summer term should not choose a spring term BPES module if they are likely to be abroad when the exam takes place. Examinations cannot be rescheduled to accommodate specific students’ availability.
Depending on the timetabling or core content of your degree, there may be further restrictions on the BPES modules you can choose. Please see Module restrictions for further details.
The BPES programme existed before the launch of I-Explore and therefore has a longstanding tradition of offering modules to students throughout their time at Imperial. Depending on your degree programme, it is possible to take a BPES modules outside of I-Explore.
You can take BPES modules:
- For-credit as an I-Explore module in either Year 2 or Year 3 (as chosen by your Department)
- For-credit as an elective module as part of your degree (only available to students on certain degree programmes)
Please see the BPES webpage for more information.
