What we do
Advance the Practice of Chemistry Teaching
- Evidence-based innovation: the Centre pioneers, evaluates and disseminates new pedagogical approaches that improve student understanding, engagement, and experience.
Active in Chemistry Education Research
- High-quality education research outputs: Advancing knowledge about how chemistry is best taught and learned, through publishing studies in chemistry and higher education journals, and hosting and presenting at conferences.
What we do
Empower Educators
Offer professional development opportunities, including: training in pedagogical methods, support for gaining teaching accreditations, recognition of excellent teaching practice.
Supporting staff development:
- Equipping lecturers, tutors, demonstrators, and technicians with skills in evidence-based practice.
Recognition of teaching excellence:
- Staff achieving fellowships and awards linked to their work with the Centre.
Vibrant scholarly community:
- Hosting conferences, seminars, and networks that connect chemistry educators locally and globally.
Work collaboratively
- Collaborate with learned societies (e.g. Royal Society of Chemistry), other universities and institutions, schools and community organisations, and industry partners.
- Work within our learning community of staff and students, utilising the expertise of our members and our collective experiences.
