Building and inclusive chemistry education for all.

Chemistry needs to be accessible for all, to ensure that our community has the diversity of views, talents, and experience to tackle the current and future challenges.  Our work is focused on enhancing the inclusivity and accessibility of chemistry education at every stage of a student’s journey, through developing practice and research.

This theme looks to develop and evaluate flexible and inclusive methodologies within teaching and assessment that accommodate different learning preferences, cultural backgrounds, and accessibility needs. From working in partnership with students to explore new ideas and approaches to supporting staff with developing their practice, our growing community of practice is keen to create effective learning and ensure environments are welcoming, accessible, and supportive.

We also research how to support student transitions across educational stages towards independent learning, particularly how the transition into university is experienced and approaches to facilitate this crucial period to ensure that students from diverse backgrounds all thrive in chemistry.
