Science and Technology Venture Capital Fellowship

About the programme

The Science and Technology Venture Capital Fellowship aims to support the next generation of leading UK-based deep tech and life sciences investors who will play a catalytic role in scaling firms in these sectors, taking centre stage in the translation of innovation into future industries.

Supported by the UK’s Department of Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), the Fellowship is a partnership between Imperial’s Business School and the Royal Academy of Engineering’s Enterprise Hub, delivering specialised education and Fellowship programming with an unparalleled network of science, technology and engineering experts across the UK.

Key Features

The programme is specifically designed for mid-career VCs in life science and deep tech who will be the next generation of general partners, either in their own firms or as emerging fund managers.

Through cases, discussions, and guest lectures with experienced academics and practitioners, participants gain a deep understanding of the challenges and best practices in portfolio construction and management, scaling and exiting science and technology ventures, and fundraising and fund structuring in life science and deep tech VC.

As part of the experiential learning component, participants will craft a compelling narrative and internally consistent financial model for an LP pitch. Those seeking to launch a fund may also benefit from enhanced engagement with the British Business Bank’s Enterprise Capital Fund (ECF) programme.

In addition to practical training and exposure to funding pathways, participants gain access to a carefully curated network of life science and deep tech investors, fostering meaningful, long-term relationships across the UK and international investment ecosystems.
