The NIHR is also a funder of research in low- and middle-income countries through UK government international development funding.

The NIHR Imperial Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) is a part of the NIHR and hosted by Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust in partnership with Imperial College London. NIHR BRCs are collaborations between NHS organisations and universities. They bring together academics and clinicians to translate scientific discoveries into potential new treatments, diagnostics and technologies. The NIHR Imperial BRC supports research on early diagnosis, precision medicine, digital health, and convergence science.
