Who is this course for?
This extension course is suitable for those who have attended a Post-Beginners German after:hours evening course, or a German Level 2 Horizons module at Imperial (≈40 hours study) or have an equivalent level of proficiency at A2 level (e.g. GCSE).
Course overview
The course sessions will primarily focus on further developing speaking and listening skills in order to improve oral proficiency.
Throughout the course, you will practise and consolidate the grammatical structures and vocabulary you acquired in the German Intermediate course (or equivalent) through interactive activities such as role-play, and pair and small group work. This will include work on tenses (present, past and perfect, different ways to express the future) as well as modal verbs and subordinate clauses.
The course aims to enhance your confidence and competence in using these structures and in building and consolidating the vocabulary required to interact with native speakers.
In addition to development of language skills, the course provides opportunities for intercultural learning, gaining insights into the culture, life and society of the German speaking countries and developing increased cultural awareness.
