Japanese Pre-Intermediate - Extension

Who is this course for?

This one-term extension course is designed for people who have completed a two-term Japanese 3 (Pre-Intermediate) course at Imperial, or those who have studied Japanese elsewhere between 120 and 150 hours (or equivalent).

To start this course, you should already be able to use Hiragana and Katakana both in reading and writing as well as having knowledge of some basic Japanese verb conjugations such as 'te-forms', 'nai-forms' and plain forms and their related basic expressions, all of which will be consolidated and expanded further during the classes for more complex structures and expressions.

Course overview

On this course we emphasise communication skills, using role play, pair work and conversation practice to encourage active learning. Kanji will be taught in the course upon request.

This course teaches to a set class text book, details of which will be given by the tutor.

•  Summer Term: week beginning 27 April 2026 until week ending 17 July 2026 (no class on Bank Holiday Mondays)
