Suitable for those who have taken our 40-hour Spanish 2 (Elementary) course, or those possessing equivalent skills

This course aims to consolidate and improve your listening and speaking skills at post-beginner level. If you are currently taking our extensive Spanish 2 (Elementary) course or you have achieved an equivalent level (A2 level) this course will be ideal if you wish to revise and practise the most important topics covered at this level before progressing to the next stage in your learning.

If you are new to our Spanish courses, choosing the right level is very important and you are advised to take our level-checking test prior to enrolment.

After submission, you will receive level advice from Ms Almudena Sanchez-Villen. You can also contact her directly if you have any queries about the course.

Course Topics:

  • Making plans with friends and arranging to meet;
  • Talking about leisure activities;
  • Travel and holidays;
  • Talking about past events.

Grammar Points:

  • Present tense;
  • Verbs like gustar;
  • Past tenses (pretérito indefinido, pretérito perfecto).

Course Information

Your Tutor

Débora is a highly experienced Spanish teacher. She started her teaching career as an English teacher in Buenos Aires, her hometown, and then developed her career as a Spanish teacher when she moved to London in 1997. 

Over the years she has worked in adult education colleges (Morley College and City Lity) and universities such as City University, the University of Westminster, and Imperial College. She was also a teacher trainer at International House, for the IH Certificate for Spanish Teachers. In her free time, she organises Spanish learning trips in Spain for adults for AbecéSpanish.  

Apart from her teaching, she has also worked as an interpreter and a translator. She holds a master’s degree in Translation and the Diploma in Public Service Interpreting from the Institute of Linguists, achieving in both cases a distinction. 

She has been awarded Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

Late enrolment

It is possible to enrol on many of our adult education courses after the course has already started. For non-language courses this is subject entirely to agreement by the tutor. For language courses it is subject to agreement by the language coordinator conducting level assessment. If you want to join a course late do bear in mind there might be work you will need to catch up on, particularly in language courses.

Friends and Family Scheme

This course is eligible for allowing Imperial College students and staff to share their discount with their friends and family.

Enrolment Process

Web enrolment starts 24 February 2025

Enrolment and payment run through the Imperial College eStore. When enrolling:

  • Do check on the drop down menu above called "Course Fees and Rate Categories" to see if you are eligible for a discounted rate and also do make sure you select that rate when enrolling on the eStore
  • If you are a first-time eStore user you will need to create an account before enrolling. You can do this by entering an email address and password. This account can then be used for any future enrolments via the eStore.

When you have enrolled you will be sent the following email notifications:
