Join artist and experienced tutor Karen David for an inspiring one-day course exploring the art of paper marbling — one of the most beautiful and rewarding of traditional crafts.
Paper marbling has a rich history spanning over a thousand years. Thought to have originated in Japan and later flourishing across China, the Islamic world, and Ottoman Turkey, marbled papers reached Europe in the 17th century, where they became highly prized for decorating fine bookbindings. Today, marbled papers are valued both for their historical connections and for their striking, one-of-a-kind designs.
On this course you’ll learn how to float paints on water, manipulate them into intricate patterns, and transfer your unique designs onto paper. The possibilities are endless — from bold and vibrant motifs to delicate, subtle veining. Your marbled papers can be used for greetings cards, gift wrap, drawer liners, or simply enjoyed as works of art in their own right.
Whether you’re a complete beginner or have some experience, this workshop offers a wonderful opportunity to master a timeless craft in a friendly and supportive setting.
Class size: limited to 12 students to ensure plenty of individual guidance.
