Hindi 2 (Elementary) Part 1

Sabrina Aggarwal Osborne was born and brought up in Uttar Pradesh, the heartland of the Hindi language, in India. She graduated from Aligarh Muslim University, India, with a BA in Hindi and Sanskrit literature, having been awarded three university gold medals for academic excellence.

Sabrina has been teaching Hindi as foreign language for over 10 years at reputed institutes, colleges, universities and language centres in the UK. She uses audio/visual resources and activities in language teaching along with her own original teaching materials. Her in-depth knowledge of the language as a native speaker and teaching experience with specially designed lessons make her lessons very enjoyable. Her cultural inputs and anecdotes provide a deeper understanding of her fascinating country - India. Sabrina has also been teaching the Sanskrit language at City Lit, London.

Her research interests include contemporary Hindi in urban and rural settings and in Bollywood. She is also a proofreader for Hachette. Recently she reviewed the Hindi Grammar book for Routledge.

Required previous experience

You must have completed Hindi 1 (45 hours of tuition) or equivalent within the past 6 months and possess Hindi script reading and writing skills, as handouts on Hindi 2 courses are provided in Hindi script and students also start to submit homework in script. Most of the script is taught on Hindi 1. Applicants unsure of their proficiency level should request a level check pre-enrolment which will be offered over the telephone. Late enrolment

It is possible to enrol on many of our adult education courses after the course has already started. For non-language courses this is subject entirely to agreement by the tutor. For language courses it is subject to agreement by the language coordinator conducting level assessment. If you want to join a course late do bear in mind there might be work you will need to catch up on, particularly in language courses.

Enrolment and payment run through the Imperial College eStore. When enrolling:
