Course overview
Canterbury, one of England’s most celebrated historic cities, is just over an hour from central London by train. Famed for its magnificent cathedral and rich medieval heritage, Canterbury offers a wealth of architectural and historical wonders waiting to be explored.
Join architectural historian Dr Michael Paraskos and medievalist Dr Sarah James for a fascinating day trip uncovering Canterbury’s medieval past. We’ll visit Canterbury Cathedral — the heart of English Christianity and a masterpiece of medieval architecture — as well as other remarkable sites that tell the story of the city’s role in history, from ancient pilgrimage routes to its surviving medieval buildings and streets.
Whether you’re new to the subject or simply curious about the history on London’s doorstep, this day school offers the perfect opportunity to experience one of Britain’s most important historic cities. No previous experience of history, art history, or medieval studies is required — all are warmly welcome.
